ABOUT

Allis Hamilton is a creature of nature who creates poetry, visual art, and music.


Her poetry is published in journals and anthologies in Australia, Canada, England, France, Ireland,
and Scotland, such as The Poetry Review, Meanjin, Overland, Oxford Scohool of Poetry, Poetry Scotland, Southerly, and Westerly.

Allis was a finalist in the 2022 Montreal International Poetry Prize, and longlisted for the 2024 Bridport Poetry Prize and had two poems longlisted for 2024 National Poetry Competition

She has been a guest poet at festivals and readings in London, Canberra, Melbourne, and Canada (online); and has co-created poetry readings, and the Castlemaine Poetry Festival.


Allis was a finalist in the 2025 Waverley Woollahra Art School’s 9” x 5” Landscape Art Prize, and in the 2019 Adelaide Perry Prize for Drawing; a semifinalist in the 2022 Doug Moran National Portrait Prize; and longlisted for the 2019 Delphian Gallery Open Call, London.


She featured on BBC Radio 3’s improvised jazz programme, ‘Freeness’, 2020;
& on BBC Radio 4, World at One, when her composition for the Obsolete Sounds project was discussed in 2022.
